Some people will want to fly out of the USA early and spend time touring Rio de Janeiro or another Brazilian city, and then fly to Brasilia on Monday morning, our first day. Most elect to follow the itinerary below:
* Sunday, the day prior to our meeting date: fly out of the USA. Most flights leave JFK, Miami, or Los Angeles in the evening. You arrive in either Rio de Janeiro or San Paulo in the wee hours of Monday morning. From there you take a domestic flight to Brasilia.
*Monday, our first day: Taxi from the Brasilia airport to our hotel in Brasilia. It’s a 15 minute drive from the airport. Then our hotel for a REST from the international flight…swim, walk, read, sleep. There is a pool on site. Monday evening, 7pm: we meet for a celebration welcome dinner at the hotel restaurant.
(In 2010, the trip will be arranged so visitors are driven directly to Abadiania on Monday after arrival at Brasilia airport. The description below of Tuesday afternoon, would be planned for the whole day of Tuesday, not just the afternoon. Monday welcome dinner would be at the Inn where we stay–which has delicious food!)
*Tuesday: 1.5 hour drive to Abadiania. We travel by air-conditioned van with an excellent driver on asphalt roads. We stay at one of the finest Inns in Abadiania, comfortable, clean, and a short walk to the Casa de Dom Inacio, John of God’s sanctuary.
Afternoon: Group Tour of Abadiania and the Casa de Dom Inacio
Before dinner we meet together to speak about going to the Casa de Dom Inácio the next day: schedule, dress, water, etc. Bring your questions. After dinner there is a meeting at the Casa de Dom Inacio to update us on any announcements.
If at any time you want to privately consult with Emma, let her know. She will do everything she can to tailor your trip to fit your individual needs.
Emma offers discussion groups throughout the two weeks for those who are interested, and shares her perspective on the philosophy of the Casa, garnered after more than 8 years of visiting the Casa and other Spiritist centers in Brazil and the USA, writing two books and co-producing two films interviewing Spiritist leaders. Her extensive reading and research makes her uniquely qualified to offer these discussion groups. After being in private practice as a transpersonal psychologist, she is also qualified to assist individuals as they grow spiritually through the resources the Casa offers.
*Wednesday , Thursday and Friday:
Breakfast between 7 and 7:30am. Be ready to go to the Casa by 7:30 am. It is a 3 minute walk. Taxis are readily available for those who prefer to be driven.
8 am - 12noonish at the Casa
12-1pm lunch at our Inn
2-5ish at the Casa
5-6ish—free time
6:30pm dinner
7pm optional meeting together, Q & A, sharing/support, watching DVDs relate to Spiritual Healing
After 9pm: Sleep/Rest
*Saturday - Tuesday: You are encouraged to stay in Abadiania, even though there are no “must-do” activities. People benefit by taking this time to rest, meditate at the Casa in the gardens, read, hike, get a massage, go to the waterfall, have a crystal bath treatment, schmooze with other internationals, old friends and new, and slow down. Any one who has had surgery is strongly advised to rest and take it easy.
*Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: The same schedule at the Casa as above.
*Our last day, Saturday: We leave Abadiania at 10a.m. and are driven to Brasilia by van service. Lunch at an exquisite natural foods restaurant/art gallery in Brasilia and then a visit to the amazingly wondrous Temple of Good Will before your departure. The Temple of Good Will is has art galleries, meditation halls, a labyrinth to walk, and several gift shops. It offers a profound and meditative stepping stone back into the more busy city life.
We arrive at the Brasilia airport to catch flights at 5pm. Please plan your flight to leave after 6pm on our last day.
